Winston is the archeologist NPC in MapleStory Classic World who starts the fossil quest line near Perion. He stands in East Rocky Mountain II on Victoria Road, east of Perion, and gives five quests between levels 17 and 34. The line ends with Monstrous Tree Stumpy, a quest to defeat Stumpy, the challenge boss added at the Grand Launch. This page lists every Winston quest in order with its requirements and rewards. The quest data is community-reported: it comes from two MapleStory Classic databases, not from Nexon, and can change with patches.
Where to find Winston
Walk east out of Perion onto Victoria Road and continue to East Rocky Mountain II; Winston is on that map. You can talk to him from level 17. The fossil quests also send you to Dr. Betty in Ellinia, so plan the route across Victoria Island. The leveling guide shows which maps match your level along the way.

One database, henesys.gg, lists twice the experience and mesos for Searching for Fossils plus 15 Eggs. The two other sources agree on the values in the table, so this page uses theirs.
The fossil quests at level 17
Searching for Fossils is a hunting and collecting quest: Green Mushrooms and Axe Stumps on the maps around Perion and Henesys, plus the two fossil items. Delivering a Box of Fossils then sends you to Betty in Ellinia. Her follow-up, Progress on Fossil Research, asks for Weighted Earrings, an earring you can buy in Ellinia, and the report goes back to Winston. That item is why many players search for this quest line.
The Stumpy quests at level 34
The second half opens at level 34. After A Report for the Doctor, Stump Research asks for 100 Very Dry Branches, and Monstrous Tree Stumpy asks you to defeat Stumpy once. Stumpy is one of the six challenge bosses in Nexon's Grand Launch release notes; the bosses guide covers all six. Bring a party: the launch bosses are group fights.
